Title: Duglas Dauntless wins contest
Post by: LARRY RICE on November 06, 2006, 10:41:11 AM
OK! As an old scale model builder I know that most models are bigger because it is easier to add scale detail to bigger models but......
In Sept. in a local contest in Ca. a small Douglas Dauntless entered the scale event and took first place. The plane even could drop a bomb in flight. SO WHAT? The surprise for me is that we (Black Hawk Models) kit the plane for 1/2a engines.
I never gave much thought to it before but Skyways Magazine built another one of our 1/2a kits (P-11c Polish Fighter) for their scale model section. It seems that Black Hawk Models is building several scale model kits. I thought that they were just fun planes to build and fly.
Check out our web site:
We have:
Fokker DR I
SE-5a
Stinson Reliant
and many more with a Ford Flivver about to be released.
Well Thanks for reading this little note.

Larry,
Good to hear there is some interest in scale around SoCal again.
BTW, my eldest was 1991 Junior National Champ in Sport Scale with a Consolidated Typhoon in which I bought for him from Tony Drago.  Later, Virgil Wilbur gave him the best finish award at a contest at Whittier for his airbrush and decal job on the same model.
Kids have a ball with half A's.
