Title: Douglas DC-5
Post by: john e. holliday on January 09, 2013, 09:40:30 AM
Courtesy of Wheels a Day,   this was on the site.   I had never heard of it,  but then again there are a lot of planes I never heard of.   Looks like a good scale subject.

If you know the name of a plane, and if it's not too obscure, Wikipedia usually has a good synopsis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC-5 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC-5).

Yes, it looks like a good subject, if you can find enough documentation.

+'s - High wing, two motors, unusual subject, tricycle gear, flaps

-'s - Lo-o-ong landing gear, all aluminum finish, one of the ugliest rudders I have seen.

I had not seen this one before either. Note the oil on the pavement below the radial engines. Good old Pratt & Whitneys, I'll bet.
