Computer font for NAVY, U.S. ARMY, etc...

(1/2) > >>

Paul Smith:
Does anybody know the name and possibly a source for the type font used on the big block lettering used on military airplanes?

NAVY, USAF, ARMY AIR CORPS, etc.

You've seen it,,,  straight vertical letters with corners beveled 45 degrees.

It would be nice to have this in Windows.

Thomas Wilk:
i found it on the internet labeled as Amarillo usaf.

Paul Smith:
Thanks,

It looks OK except that it costs $12 to download one font.

Maybe I'll find something better, like a package that has 1000 fonts including this one, by the time I'm ready for the lettering.

Keith Spriggs:
I found a free download for Amarillo usaf a while back. It may have only been good for 30 days, but I saved everything on my computer, so I think it will still work after 30 days. I will try to find the site.

Found it. Here is a link to a page that shows lots of free font downloads.

Paul Smith:
Thanks, I was given a copy of "USAF Amaraillo".  I'll have to use it within 30 days in case it really does time out.

I was finally able to get it into my Windows font menu so I can use it in WordArt and manipulate the product to fit the planes.  It's looks kinda grainly here, but that's just the limited res.  I think it will print just fine in the end.
