Title: AT-6 TEXAN
Post by: Dick Byron on March 24, 2011, 02:35:05 PM
I received a call this morning from The Frontiers Of Flight Museum at Love Field in Dallas. They asked to have the AT-6 Texan to display. It is officially theirs now and will be on display next week. I am so glad to contribute to someone that wanted it. H^^ H^^

Congratulations Dick!!

Donating it to a museum guarantees it will be seen for many years by many people.

Are you adding a description of how it is controlled in flight?

Clancy

Dick, how about a good picture here that we can enlarge for those of us who live light years away?  (I've wanted to do a semi-scale stunter of the AT6 for a looooooong time!)

Let try this. I have corrected the things that were wrong with the markings, elevator outline and rudder profile. I decided to give up on the hobby as I just think it's best.

Great pics, Dick - thanks a bunch!  That's one nice ship.  I hope you meant to say "give up on the plane" instead of "give up on the hobby!"  Please?

Dick,
A fellow with your success as a modeler will have to be doing something with his time, may you enjoy whatever that turns out to be and be blessed!

Will,
Both your and Clancy 's words are very kind. I decided that it was just not any fun anymore. Trying to fly in a contest where there are no enforceable rules ( Class "C" sanctions) and trying to accept the selective enforcement of what "THEY" claim are rules is to much to fight. That in combination with the BOM rule being ignored by some and lackadaisically ignored by others. I decided to just give up THEY WIN!!!!!!! My love for this hobby will never die but my heart has been broken by the accusations that I have falsely accused some of indiscretions. My enemies castigate me, my friends remain silent, afraid of being scorned too. The great problem is I see to much, but it takes me some time to analyze it. When I get it figured out I can not just accept what I see as wrong, I am going to speak up. There are a lot of narcissists and they can't stand being found out.
I truly feel karma will win out. To my friends, thank you for all your support. H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^   To my enemies so be it.  HB~> HB~> HB~>

Can't you just build models for your own personal satisfaction? I think the majority of chaps on this forum probably do that! :)

Cheers

Shouldn't all model making be about fun? :) That Lake looks perfect for a flying boat or seaplane #^ I envisage an electric Custom Privateer, or maybe a Catalina, what a superb flying site on your doorstep.

Cheers

This is revolting news, Dick. But inasmuch as it mirrors what is happening in our own USA I can only guess that it's a sign of the times!
I have quit 4 jobs because of similar "hannenframous". And I am a professional.

Dick-
Since the model is going into a museum, one needs to be accurate in the description of the airplane. Your model is not an AT-6, it is a T-6G. When the Air Force was split off from the Army, it became the USAF and at that time all the prefixes to the trainers (PT,BT&AT)were dropped and they were simply called T-XX. The T-6G's did carry a TA number on the side but that had nothing to do with the old AT-6 designation. Since the model has USAF on the wing and a TA number, it has to be recognized as a T-6G.

Thanks Don,
Without your help I would have not been able to get the markings corrected. The pics here do not reflect the changes I did.

   Thanks again. H^^ H^^ H^^
