Are spectra lines allowed for scale and stunt?
There are no requirements for the material or diameters of the lines used for the AMA Control Line Precision Aerobatics events. Maximum length is 70'. Pull test is 10 G's. Essentially, if the 10G pull test is passed for Precision Aerobatics, you can use whatever material you want.
For CL Scale, the AMA CL Scale rules do not specifically that the lines must be steel. The way the rule book is written, it "sort" of implies that the lines are metal and gives the diameters required given the weight of the model and whether two lines or three lines are used and for solids or cables. (Interesting, the scale rules do not specify the line diameter if a mono-line system is used. There was a model entered in 1/2 A Scale at this last Nats with a mono-line unit but was not flown. Hopefully, we will see it next year.)
The AMA Control Line General rules do not offer any clarification regarding material used for lines used in the Control Line Scale events.
