Title: 1949 Shoestring color revisited...
Post by: Chris McMillin on June 08, 2016, 11:03:22 AM
Here is a 1949 Cadillac restored in Chartruese color. A nice look at what the color looks like on a vehicle. Looks to me like a Primrose Yellow with a tinge of green.

One of the things that caught my eye was the Sears tag on the front bumper! Did Sears sell cars also?

I assumed it was a dealer of the same name, Gil.

When my mother's family moved to Oregon in the mid-40's they bought a house that started out as a kit-built.  I'm not sure that it was from Sears -- mail-order houses were not uncommon back in the day.

Actually, the Henry J (Henry J. Kaiser's early 'compact') was marketed by Sears, in the mid '50s.
Don't think they sold Caddys, though...(would plural of Caddy be 'Caddies'?) Guess so...Looked too much like golf carriers...
