"Ready to fly" as in I made it ready to fly in eight and a half days.
This is for the Toronto contest the day after tomorrow. I've always liked the Sabre since I saw them streaking the Lake Huron beach, just off shore enough to be legal, in the early 50's. This particular unit is the center piece of the Selfridge Air Museum.
The model came in a 9.9 ounces, about .4 oz above the preliminary estimate. This is basically a dustbin build, utilizing scraps from the chop.

The bellcrank is pretty simple. Just a piece of circuit board with two output holes instead of one. It has a couple extra laminations of the same material at the center to hold a brass bushing. The axle is 1/16" piano wire.
I have been flying a 40-size airplane with this setup (and a 1/8" axle) for almost two years now and no problem to date.

It went well and "won" the contest, which was delayed due to Hurricane Igor. Unfortuately, nobody else showed up on Sunday, so it wasn't much of a contest. My competition would have been significant on Saturday, but with steady winds at 30 and gusts to 50, nothing flew. Newfoundland got trashed a lot worse than New Orleans, but Toronto just got a dry two-day blowout. I don't know where the Tim Horton's cups and wrappers went, but it must be 700 kilos away.
