Tucson's 4th annual meet (informal, but sanctioned) for this fun event is coming up soon. Yes, it's actually "1cc", technically not "1/2A". You may have seen a write-up & photos from last year's meet in a recent FM. As noted elsewhere, dates have been changed to October 16-17. Come join us if you can.

Nope, not at our meet. The limit is 1cc (.061) EXCEPT that this year we are allowing OK Cub .074s.

Not to my knowledge. As far as I could ascertain from a long-ago magazine article, all the Fokker T.Vs were either shot down or destroyed on the ground at Amsterdam/Schiphol airdrome.

The model in question was a construction article in the Feb. '77 issue of "Model Builder", starting on page 38. It was built from 1/4" sheet balsa (1/8" tail surfaces), powered with Tee-Dees (.049 & .051) and was a delightful little flyer. It placed 3rd at the Valley Circle Burners 1976 contest for 1/2A multi-engine profile scale, and was a sweet little flyer.
Bill Northrop (Henderson, NV) may still have plans available for anyone who's interested. Check his ads in the magazines.

And here's another "Model Builder" construction article (July 1989): the Stinson Model 'U'. This one, except for a really nice appearance, was a DOG because it weighed about three times what it should have. I stupidly mounted the three Cox .049s INBOARD, hoping to conceal them while in flight. That, of course, required about a pound of lead in the outboard wingtip in order to offset the engines' weight.
Also stupidly, I covered the beautiful sliced-rib wing with heat-shrink film.....used solid (instead of built-up) 1/2" balsa for the fuselage.....then finished it with Black Baron spray paint. The whole thing nearly required three men and a boy to lift it.
Fortunately, it flew....sort of....winning a few Firsts in 1/2A Profile Scale, but if I had to do it again (highly unlikely) it would be (a) a built-up fuse., (b) tissue covering, and (c) dope finish ..... not to mention mounting the engines on the OUTBOARD side.
Still, it was fun. Ended up giving it to my grandson, who hung it from the ceiling in his bedroom.
