Quote from: john e. holliday on Today at 07:16:05 AMIf you can't get it from BMJR go to your local fabric store.  The stuff I use is jacket lining material.  They have different weights.  At least my store does. D>K

I think Doc was one of the first to figure out what Polyspan really was and what it was used for. It's called "interfacing" and one company I have researched is the Pellon brand. The word Pellon is kind of a universal name for anything you sew or embroider on, or anything that you use to back up material for stiching. It comes in different weights. JoAnn Fabrics store near me had several different types of this material and could be bought by the running yard. I bought some Pellon P-45, as that is the number that I think Doc figured out, and Pellon 905 is similar but lighter that I found recently. I got some of that from a large quilting supply store near me. At the same time, I took some of the tead bag paper that I got from Dave Triblle to the same store for the clerks to look at and they had some Pellon 830 tracing cloth. It's very close to the tea bag paper from Sugaridoo, maybe a bit heavier. But notice on the label that it says it's machine washable and tumble dry. It can also be used as an interfacing material and can be left in the garment. I think this is the critical thing, as that is just what tea bag paper needs to be, tough enough to soak in hot water and stay together. I ran out of steam trying to research other manufacturers of this types of material, as there has to me more than one!! So check out the fabric and quilting stores near you, and you may have to ask for it, but you can buy it by the running yard. The tea bag paper is good stuff if you want to order large quantities to make it worth the shipping. It comes from Sugaridoo, and on line quilting supply company. They carry it to use it as a tracing material and as an interfacing material on quilts also. There are a number of threads on the subject over the last several years, especially since Dave Rigotti discovered the tea bag paper from Sugaridoo.
  Type at you later,

Dick Carville and I got a few flights in this morning before the tropical breeze picked up. We had a few visitors. Gotta zoom in. We also had about 20 turkey buzzards circling overhead and landing behind the fence on the backside of the circle. I walked down to see what they were feeding on and it looked like somebody gutter maybe a hog.

Besides that it was a good session.

I've been using the Brodak product for years.
Dope the airframe,
Apply dry, dope through,
Heat shrink.
Excellent results.

Classic Planes / Re: Ambroid Super Whipsaw

For the tank, I will beef up the center section enough to where I can cut the sheeting and have a hard tank in the proper location.  While I use bladder tanks on combat planes, this is a sport model and I want the causalness of suction.

For the wing I will use my usual setup of a smooth rib section with square-on-edge LE and two 1/16" TE pieces, and capstrips to smooth it out.  This always works for me regardless of the design.

Quote from: BillLee on Today at 06:55:15 AMTo hopefully put a 'period' on the original discussion (an 'emergency' change to the FAI rules), I spoke directly with Pavol Barbaric, chairman of the F2 Technical Subcommittee, about this discussion. He gave me the factual background and the essence of what he said is this:

"...separate discussion with ... again, who tested the fishing lines him self and he gave me better view into the topic, I literaly backed-off and in state of pushing to ban the fishing lines from F2B. ..."

"... I will refer back the proposal at the Bureau meeting." which is FAI-lingo for killing any current proposal.

"...I informed Trevor and also other people about the fact, I won't continue to ban the fishing lines."

('Trevor' Letchford is the overall director of the upcoming F2 World Championships.)

Bottom line: as has been stated here and elsewhere repeatedly, use of non-steel lines in F2B is LEGAL. And current efforts, often seen through the lens of the rumor mill, have been put aside. There is absolutely no concern for the World Championships.

However, that doesn't mean the issue will never be seen in the future since "...influenced by persons those are realy fighting against the use of the materials...", and we must remain involved in the FAI rules process (I am the U.S. member of the F2 Technical Subcommittee.).

Regards,

Bill Lee
Thank You Bill for the update....
