Gentlemen,
Received this sad news today...

On January 5, 2011, prematurely, after a long illness died Vladimir
Stepanovich Titov, one of the leaders of world sport model aircraft, in the
class of control line racing models. He was honoured as Master of Sports of
Russia, deserved trainer of the RSFSR, World Champion (1992), two-time
European Champion (1995, 1997.) and World record (1992)
Inspired by aircraft modelling in 1963, Vladimir Stepanovich devoted his
life to sport aircraft modelling.
Aviation Engineer, highest qualification turner, he participated in the
creation of innovative designs in aircraft modelling technology in several
classes of Control line models (combat, scale, Team Racing).

Great athlete, Vladimir Stepanovich Titov, was the first pilot in the
history of model aircraft sport to win two consecutive European
Championships. He was an example of a high quality, extremely correct and
responsive pilot for many domestic and foreign competitors.
He worked for many years as coach and teacher of the Moscow Model Aircraft
Club, Vladimir Stepanovich gave a significant contribution for the creation
and preservation of major machinery tool base of the Club, still allowing
the production of world-class engines

For his outstanding sportive career Vladimir Stepanovich Titov was awarded
the medal for Valor, the Medal of the Order of Merit for the Motherland »
second grade medal. He was the first sportsman three times Hero of the
Soviet Union AI Pokryshkina.*

Distinctive traits of Vladimir Stepanovich were exceptional modesty,
honesty, diligence, and responsiveness.
The bright memory of this wonderful man will forever remain in our hearts.

The funeral will be held January 10, 2011 at the Domodedovo cemetery.
