I have venturis for sale to fit the Magnum and ASP 15. They are blue anodized aluminum, .250" bore, and comply with the new Dallas Sportsman Goodyear rules. They are drilled for Supertigre/ RSM or other 4 mm/ 5/32" spraybars.
$10.00 each. I also have RSM needle valve assemblies to fit. $10.00 each. $3.00 postage per order in the US. Send me an email or a PM.

Bill, can you give me an idea on which APC prop you are running and any other details about the project, plane size, motor performance aircraft, whatever.
Thanks
Wayne

We use the APC 6.5x5 and 6.5x5.5 props. Planes are typical AMA Goodyear size, 22 oz "ish". Performance on .015x52 stranded lines should be about 80 mph, engine RPM 19,000 "ish". My plane is the "BooRay", but there are lots of suitable designs for Goodyear. Flying Models published the taper wing Cassutt, Model Aviation published the Zipper and Li'l Quickie, Model Airplane News published the Rickey Rat, and the R.S. Hirsch books have dozens of 3 views that could be scaled up. Avoid designs with low wings, wing mounted landing gears, and unusually long or short noses.

Bill, thanks for the information. Very helpfull. Thanks.

A new batch of venturis is coming soon. Watch for a post when they are ready.

Would like to see a bigger pic of the BooRay as I have built one for big goodyear. What is the aspect ratio of the wing?
MM

I never bothered to calculate the aspect ratio...

One way of calculating A/R is Spanē/area. Span is on the boo.jpg, (I'm too lazy to break out the slide rule). I believe midgets area is 66 sq ft.

Must be a different version, my BooRay has a straight wing.

Many of the midgets were built with various wing configurations. Most of the homebuilts were based on Cassuts.

BTW, I have a mod for the ASP 15 that will guarantee an increase in power so tremendous that it will send the crankshaft out the front of the motor.

What event would you use it in, Walt?
-
Whatever event that $43 motor fits in.

Whatever event that $43 motor fits in.
Well, your modified motor wouldn't work for Sportsman GY as it's been defined.
"Engines must be of stock configuration only. No material may be added or removed (except through
normal wear and use), except the engine mounting holes may be enlarged or elongated. No non-stock
parts may be substituted except for the glow plug, venturi, needle valve assembly, ball bearings,
gaskets, screws, prop washer and prop nut."
And that, after all, WAS the context of the OP.
But I WOULD like to know what mod you mean. Care to share?
-
You want a guarantee that your engine will break? Let me fly it! %^@
-
Oh so only parts you guys make are allowed?
-
I provide venturis and needle assemblies as a convenience. You are not required to use mine. Anything that meets the rules is allowed.
Hey, we've managed to steer this back to the original topic of venturis! #^ #^ #^

You going to share a speed secret?
-
FYI Bill
I bought a Magnum, ordered your venture and used it on my OS 15. Works great!
Now I need another one for the Magnum.

Mike, I received your payment, but I am out of venturis right now. More are in the works. I will send your order ASAP.

It was more of less just joking around, what good does it do to get more power when the engine blows up. I've modified lots of ASP engines when they first came out and I think almost all of them twisted the crank in half. Stopped modding the crank itself and just did other mods and the cranks still broke. Finally realized the shaft in the ASP line is very soft. As for the mod, anybody that knows engines can look at an ASP and it jumps out at you, just don't do it or the crank will come out the front.

Venturis and needles in stock again 10/1/14.
-
H^^ Just a reminder, I still have venturis and needle assemblies in stock.
-
Will that fit the AP hornet 15?

Its just going onto a jr ringmaster or something similar.

I don't know about that particular engine, but these venturis fit a 10 mm hole in the engine.

I just measured. .354 inches, so 9mm, which is a no-go.
Thank you.
