Prop for Royal Rodent

(1/2) > >>

Dave Nyce:
Hi.  Am getting close to having the Royal Rodent plane put together.  It will use a McCoy .35 Red Head engine.  What prop would be good for this plane with this engine?

Thanks

Dave

bill bischoff:
a 9x7 or 8x8 would be worth a try. Remember, the engine is happy with a typical 10x6, so whatever you use should put a similar load on the engine. Be sure to post a picture of your model!

find an old 8/10 Power Prop that should hold the R's down or just put a 9/7 on it and enjoy flying it

Dave Nyce:
OK.  Thanks.  I ordered some 8x8 props.

I installed the recommended rectangular tank from the plan.  But there is nothing on the plan for preventing fuel/oil from entering the fuselage.  Is a firewall usually installed between the engine and fuel tank?  Or is the metal fuse bottom considered ok for oil to go?  I drilled a small hole aft in the fuse bottom to allow oil to drip out.

Dave Nyce:
Does the Royal Rodent need a firewall to prevent fuel/oil from entering fuselage?  No firewall shown on plan.  This is what I have so far (see photos)
