Title: pressure regulator
Post by: Mike Greb on November 09, 2013, 06:31:12 PM
I am looking for about a 0-15 psi pressure regulator that is small enough to be used as part of an f2c fueling rig,  any ideas?  Any small check valves that would survive diesel fuel?  I was thinking about aquarium check valves.

Hi Mike

This might be old school, but I just used an Blood Pressure squeeze bulb with pressure release valve (it came as unit). I bought it from a medical supply company. I then bought a 0-10 lbs pressure gauge and installed both into a quart size K&B fuel can.

Both Fourmost and Perry make gas/smoke fluid check valves. I don't know how the ether would affect them, but they are designed for petroleum as opposed to alcohol.

Go to a performance auto parts store and get a fuel pressure gauge 0-15 psi.w/1/8 npt cost around $25
Grainger makes a good brass check valve.

Mike, do you want a pressure GAUGE or a pressure REGULATOR?

Nothing like having a can of pressurized racing fuel strapped to your arm.

IMO, OK if it's diesel, pure folly if glow fuel.  Just a little spark from the glo starter and you could be fighting for your life.  I've had too many pitting fires from that kind of thing, last one just a couple of months ago.  BTW, I may be old and slow but s**t happens to everyone when you're not expecting it.  Most likely in my case caused by hurry, hooking up the plug clip before fueling to save time.
