Sorry, wrong thread :(
I'm on a different continent and will remain so for the foreseeable future...
-
Hey Steve,
I don't think Mouse II is being offered anymore...is that a typo?
Paul
-
I think you right but it comes up on the AMA web page for Nats registration
-
Why have an event that has no entries. When we offered it here in KANSAS, the guys just used their Class I planes. H^^

There are no Mouse II entries listed since Mouse II is NOT being held. But the NATS pre-entry listing somehow doesn't seem to jibe with what's actually happening. Many events listed, age category breakdown, etc., that just aren't meshed with reality of what's going on.
AMA NATs management has never been very much concerned with accuracy. :(
-
Hey Steve,
Any Nats racing scores posted yet? How'd you guys do in T/R?
Cheers, Paul

I don't have times maybe Bill L can help us with those.

With all that competition it was a tough NATs! ::)
(Edit to add: not meant to imply that what was there wasn't good, because it was VERY good!)
A respectable turn-out for F2C, and the guys on the team (Fluker/Lambert, Fischer/Wilk and Albritton/Perkins) had stuff running. Walt and JE had a lot of grief and Brono/Wallick filled the finals quite nicely.
As for the rest: I'm sure glad the Texas guys showed up, too bad nobody else in the country is interested in racing anymore. :( I guess the competition is too tough at the NATs. ;D
With apologies, of course, to those that were there: Team Jim from Florida, Steve "King Rat" from Arizona, Jim "by himself" from New Jersey, Melvin "the Prez" from Kansas, Dave and Zella (who along with Sandra sat out in the sun and timed all week!), all there for the whole week. Jim Ricketts came in for Goodyear and helped time and ran stuff in addition, and McDonald came by to fly a few races and just hang out a while,
Some interesting things (well, at least to me!):
Was surprised to see Dave Wallick there and competing, what with all of the physical problems has had lately. Did a good job pitting both the F2C and the F2CN. (BTW, Dave, you still owe me the $100! :) )
Dave and Zella Betz were camping out for the week and the Thursday evening storm totally demolished their tent and soaked everything they had. They packed up and headed home to dry out and didn't get back Friday morning until it was all over.
Steve Eichenberger was in training for the marathon, it seems, making several runs back and forth to the speed circles! Seems his transportation was there and he needed things in the car on a couple of occasions, so off he went, jogging across the Muncie prairie.
Was good to see Jim Ricketts come down for Goodyear, and McDonald flying for him. Of all the events, that was the closest finish between 1st and 2nd, only 1.5 seconds separating them. Steve Eichenberger missed the win by only a couple of extra flips of the prop on the pitstop.
Sportsmanship award went jointly to Team Jim (Jim Bradley and Jim Demeritte) who were always there helping. JimD was the go-to pilot for several of the guys, JimB never stopped and was always helping count laps or run races or whatever, never having to be asked to do it! People like that make it all worthwhile.
I have to express my thanks to Bill Bischoff and Dave McDonald for flying my stuff. It's damned difficult without skilled pilots.

Here are the Quickie Rat winners. L to R Bill Bischoff, Dave McDonald, Bill Lee, Mike Greb

Sounds like everyone had a great time. I couldn't make it this year, so anyone who is able, please share the "war stories". I'm also curious...what was the winning Clown Race lap count?
Les
-
Les;
Clown was won with 167 laps. Both heats. With far less than perfect races and with engine running at the end and laps left in the tank. But your record is safe since it was only 2-up and there will likely never again be another chance to set it.

Here are the 2012 CL Racing results.

Great report Bill, thanks a lot. I know I have not been racing like I used to. Can't blame no one but myself. 70+ miles just to practice with Melvin when the knees let me do anything. Gas for vehicle is big problem and the undependable weather. JJ, is too busy with his rock band to even sport fly. Can't even talk the one step son into flying again and he was our best prospect. Oh well. H^^

As one of the Texas guys who came up to fly a little Racing (Super Slow) it was a lot of fun. I hadn't flown any Race at the Nats since Gene Hempel pitted me in Foxrace about thirteen years ago, where we broke the fuselage apart on the first pit.
We do have Racing in Dallas and Houston, and Wichita, and Topeka, so we aren't total strangers to the events. But Jim Ricketts made us feel right at home, even though we had a shaky start.
Thanks to all the Racing folks, we had a great time,
