We got to put plenty of laps on her at the Nats--and Les let me wiggle the handle for him. The plane is light, and flies that way. Still working thru some engine setup issues, but it raced pretty good! We ended up using a closer handle spacing to desensitize the controls in the wind. That also reduced my "rocket style" takeoffs nicely. (I was trying hard not to buzz the one proven good prop!) The plane didn't hunt so much as kind of fly two or three racing grooves at the same time as the wind buffeted it. Still, light is fast....and he pulled down a second place. We picked up a little race rash in the final, so Les has a bit more work left. I'm looking forward to getting my grubbies on it again....
By the time of the Nats, Les had the racing numbers on right, and really pimped her out with pilot stenciling and sponsor decals.
Oh, and did I mention that Les was the 2011 Nats CL Racing High Point Champion?
