    Does anybody have one of these for sale or know the size and pitch of the shaft?

I had one once upon a time. I want to say it was 10-32. Take a known 6-32, 8-32 or 10-32 screw and use it as thread gauge. If it will mesh with the crank threads, then you know it's 32 TPI. 10-32 nuts are a dime a dozen at the hardware store. If it's not 10-32, my next guess would be 5mm, like Rossi or Supertigre. Have you tried nuts from any of your other engines to see what fits?

      Hi Bill:

      The engine in question was purchased along with 3 other Stunt engines at our monthly club meeting by a friend of mine.  He paid $50.00 for all four engines. I have no dog in this fight but I thought that I would ask here just to help a "Brother." The Taipan seems to be in great condition but a bit dirty.

      I was curious as to what threads are used for these engines as they were manufactured in Australia.

According to my information it should be a 5/16" x 32 UNEF (it's a screw in stud), but I can't find my engine right now to check. Gordon Burford used a verity of screw thread types in his engines.

Perhaps David Owen will read this and verify?

Take said engine to your local Ace Hardware Store and go to the nut and bolt section.   I do that a lot with some of engines and various other things.

OK, I found my Taipan Goldhead .15.  My previous information was that the shaft thread was 5/16" x 32 tpi.

My example is from early production, so the above information may be true for later examples.

The pictures tell the story.

 First; the Taipan crankcase with a 10:32 tap.

Second the tap is a perfect fit in the existing prop nut.
