Post by: Greg McCoy on March 27, 2010, 01:14:49 PM
Engine from estate of US world champion. I was going from item description, and location to track down some info.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270552859704&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_4962wt_1167

Could this be winning engine 1968?  http://www.go-cl.se/trh/trh_ps-1.html

Well the price doubled since I last looked. It went for $ 1.552 . which is near enough to five million dollars.

Wottle he do if he blows it while hes flying it .

I don’t think that is the engine that won the 68 WC. John Tate and I use to go up to Washington DC On weekends and practice TR with JE Albretton. JE had borrowed that engine from Jehlic and converted it to glow and had mounted it his goodyear which placed 3rd. at the 70 or 71 Nat's. I don’t remember the engine looking like that . I think that is a later engine. I do know that JE’s up line broke and the engine went in and bent the crank. JE cut the end off and drilled and taped a new threaded rod to hold the prop before he placed at the Nat's
All that is from memory it could have been the earlier 67 engine
