The question of the year is will they have the event at all?

I have received notice from the CD's of a shortening of the contest and reduction of events.  This is in the interest of cutting losses.
I suggested either an increase of entry fees or individual sponsorship of events by those who want to save them.  But I have yet to get a response.

There is a thread from 2011 titled "Foam Wing Clown", back about 8 or 9 pages. The general consensus is "no", but I guess the only answer that really matters comes from the Event Director.

Maybe I'm a purist but, I don't think they should allow the wing spars and the Circus Prince elevator that's in the Brodak kit.

MM :)

Since this is a thread about the Brodak event and as a participant, I am hoping that they will be racing again this year . There are not many entries but those who do enter make for a very competitive race! The Brodak rules are a bit different than normal but have evolved into an event that provides close racing (kind of like Dallas GY). Personally I would welcome anyone who shows up with a racer that is at least close to spec.   TS

I got an advance copy of the Brodak entry form.  The contest has been reduced by a day with the elimination of the last Saturday.
Racing is not reduced.
Of course the Brodak clown design is welcome at the Brodak Fly In.
I don't see any point in making a foam wing for such a simple little design.  It would still need a lot of wood make it strong enough.  In ANY old time event the use of foam would be off the point of the exercise.  In my experience the event director has never disallowed an airplane.

They didn't JUST drop Perky.  They dropped five events that I sometimes fly.  I was not inside the committee.
I suggested increasing the entry fee or having people sponsor events, but these ideas were rejected.
It appears to me that the key element was shortening the Fly In by one day.
This might have been a concession that was made to keep the Fly In from being cancelled altogether.
So Friday is now the "old Saturday" with a few stunt flights and then the prize giving.  They dumped 5 events and kept 20 events.

That's a shame, sorry to hear they are down sizing the contest.
