Top Flight ink liners
« on: May 08, 2006, 09:48:23 PM »
I didn't think I would write a review but here goes. As some know I have tried the Top Flight panel pen. It works real good (until you put clear on it) I shot the clear on my Satona today and the my surprise the ink smeared. Man I thought I had found the answer but do not use this product if your going to spray Urethane paint over it. I have another plane I used this product on and You can not wipe it off the same way you can the technical pens.

So my best advice is don't use it unless your real familiar with the finish process. It has cost me a couple of points on the finish. Never again!

Top Flite Panel Pens are best used on Monokote or Ultrakote coverings.  They will smear with direct contact to fuel; however, just a quick touch up and you are back in business.

I have never tried urethane but I know that if you use Sig litecoat clear and dust on a few coats that the Topflight panel pens do not smear with this.

Some day I'll have to try urethane on my planes! <=
