Title: Sleeper wheels...
Post by: wwwarbird on October 09, 2006, 11:51:18 AM
A wheel that's available thru Sig that many may not know about are these Kavan jobbies imported from Germany. They have two styles, one with a chrome hub a lot like the old Du-Bro's, and a Military spoked style in a silver-grey that looks kind of like a P-51 Mustang wheel. The bonus of these great looking wheels is that they are SUPER light but still have a harder rubber outer casing on the tire, not foam so they won't soak up fuel.

I wager that the lightest wheels available are the Brodak offerings....

The Brodak wheels are very light but a few years ago, I found these at Lebanon.

They now carry them at the LHS and Brodak will soon offer them. I think they go up to around 2 1/4 inch.

The ones show are standard on the Baby Clown II and seem to weigh nothing.

I believe Mike Palko uses them on the Silencer and also Windy is experimenting with them.

Sparky,

 I don't have a scale, but they are pretty darn/dang/friggin'/stinkin' light. ;D

They feel at least as light the Du-Bro or Brodak foamies. y1

I've got some of the foam Brodak wheels too, and yes, they are nice as well, but can still soak up fuel.
