Title: baby crop duster from southridge CNC models
Post by: Dane Martin on March 29, 2015, 06:04:50 PM
Good day ladies and gents!
For those who don't know me... probably most of you.... Lol I am Dane Martin from the las Vegas circle burners. I'm big time into building reed powered 1/2A models. Maybe best known that mine always run perfectly!! Haha, anyhow, this is the southridge CNC models baby cropduster. Not a model you see everyday. So i had to have it. Before getting started , i read the instructions. Of course i could build this plane with out it, but i was interested in the kit in its entirety. Absolutely a delight! Well written, great instructions. I followed them to the letter. The kit is unbelievably high quality. I had to tell myself this is cnc cut, not laser cut several times! I'll do the build in a couple reply type posts to keep it short. Thanks for reading
Dane

My kit came with a personalized message, a nice touch and keeps the idea that this is a guy just like us. Someone who loves control line.
The kit packaging was a very nice with attention to detail.
I followed the instructions, and was pleased. I can recommended this kit for a first time builder after this build. Experienced fellows will appreciate the fit and quality!
The wing went together so fast, i didn't realize i was totally done! To line up the ribs, spar, and LE took 17min. Literally had this wing done and ready to sand in just over a leisurely hour. It's remarkably straight and light weight.
Home run Greg! In addition to SH, I'll be posting this on other forums and our club newsletter.

Wing shown with included wing jig blocks. Rubber bands mentioned in instructions are also included! Easy straight build.
All this was done with the aid of my trusty assistant and plane trim designer, Daviny!

Nearly final construction pics. Now just needs some final sanding around the wing fillets and what not. Really cool motor mount appearance. I could monokote or Lustrekote this monster and fly tomorrow.. Oh wait. I gotta work. Ok, I'll do a good paint job then.. Lol

You are correct,   Greg's kits are excellent,  wait till you see the 48" Crop Duster profile.

The bulk of the sanding is done. Very smooth and ready for primer. Then a lot more sanding. I really was gonna Monokote it or that iron on synthetic tissue, but the kids really wanted it to look like dusty. So, lots of sanding and painting!

Sweet looking plane. Not the typical airplane you see every day.
