The West Michigan Smoke Rings was chartered in Feb of 2005. It was started by a group of C/L fliers in the Kalamazoo area who just happened to run into each other ( four of us met at the 2003 scale Nats). We started flying with each other moving from each person favorite flying site to the others changing locations each time we flew. We contacted the Plainwell airport and got permission to fly there, they wanted us to have insurance coverage so we chartered the club.
We now have two fields. The Plainwell Airport and one at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. The Air Zoo site is in the beginning stages, It still needs work, but it is flyable.
