Royal Oak Cloudbusters
« on: December 10, 2006, 08:49:50 AM »
We are Michigan's oldest model airplane club, dating back to 1939.  We have been AMA chartered since 1969.

Our meetings are held at the New Light Church on the I-75 service drive just northwest of I-696.  The first meeting of 2007 is Janaury 9th.   Meetings start promptly at 8:00 PM.  From then on, we meet alternate weeks, with time off for summer flying season.

We also meet for lunch at The Beefcarver on Woodward Avenue every Tuesday at 11:00 AM.

Outdoor flying takes place at Stanley Broome Park, Delia, and Stony Creek.
Indoor is Friday nights at Heritage School.

Free Flight, Indoor, Control Line, Scale, and Aviation History.
You can show RC stuff, but only if you fly regular events as your main habit.

Our auction, the second meeting in January, is Michigan's best.
January 23, 2007, 8:00 PM, free, be there, Aloha.

Dues are only $10 per year and we have a nice newsletter.  We have a lot of members who just want the newsletter and never attend meetings.

Our web site is in need of an update, but give us a hit anyway.

We have made what is, for us, a monumental change in the club's operations.

Since the dawn of time, we have met "every other Tuesday at 8 PM".

For the last decade or so, we've also had a weekly lunch meeting at The Beefcarver on Woodward north of 11 Mile.   Anywho, the lunch meetings have become so popular that the evening meetings have gotten redundant.

So, by vote of those few present, we scaled back the evening meetings to ONE PER MONTH, September thur April, a total of only eight per year (from a previous 18-to-20).  The elected politburo will detail the schedule.   This will still give us all the meetings we need for The Auction, Christmas Party, press-gang of officers, and contest scheduling.  Presiding over so many meetings had also become a barrier to retaining officers.

See you at the field, the contest, the hobby shop, church, and of course, THE BEEF.

We have added a weekly Control Line flying session every Monday morning from about 9 AM through 2 PM at Delia Park, Sterling Heights.   We will continue this fall as long as the weather permits.

Perhaps if we can keep Al Gore out of the White House, we might be able to do this year-round.   If Al get in and succeeds with his agenda, we'll be flying June through August.

October 22, 2007, 74 degrees in the frozen north country, with winds gust to 9 MPH.

Our third consecutive pleasant Monday of sport flying at Delia Park.  We flushed out another domant CL'er from hibranation, and even an RC electric (with a HOME-built).

The yellow plane is Al Burzcyki's Midwest P-39, used as a flying test stand.  Today's specimen was a Merco 40.

------------------

Obviously, there's room for more flyers.  Every Monday, as long as we can stand it.
