Title: Super Ares Profile

This is a profile version of the Bill Werwage Super Ares. The airplane has a 59 11/16” wingspan and 679 square inches of wing area. The kit comes with all the fixturing necessary to build the “I-Beam” wing. The parts are laser cut, all of the wing ribs are laser cut.  The plans are CAD plots with full size templates for all the pre-cut pieces. The built-up version will be available at a later date. All of the wood in the kit is contest balsa. The kit does not contain any control system hardware.
The kits will sell for $260.00 plus shipping. Please indicate whether you want Standard Post or Priority Mail, and if you want insurance. I am not responsible for the package once I deliver it to the Post Office.

perhaps not many, because the ibeam and a profile fuse would localize the stress with great intensitiy on the very very center of the ibeam.
I would be concerned without some very substantial reinforcement,,
but, then thats just my observation, perhaps your design addressed this shortcoming?

Where the fuselage and spar are in contact the fuselage/rootrib assembly is 2 1/4" wide. The 3/8 balsa spar web is 1 3/8" tall in the center, the flanges top and bottom are 1/8 X 1/2 balsa. the spar doublers front and backside of the spar are 1/16 ply between the flanges and are over 22 inches long. There are 1/16 ply spar tripplers front and backside of the spar assembly that are 1 5/8 tall and 5 7/8 long. The spar assembly has 1/8 ply tripplers top and bottom that are 3" long.
I doubt that aerodynamic forces can break a properly assembled spar.
I admit that I had to abandon my traditional choice S section I beam for this application, but the wing is not thick enough, and I don't think we have engines that could lift even the little S6 10# section. LL~  In my professional career we considered anything less than 1/4" plate as sheet metal. We stocked plate up to 8", and I have designed and built products that use 12" plate.

I'm kinda diggin this the more I look at it.
At this size, what kind of engine would be used?
I have a k&b 60 in need of a home

The Super Ares is a .60 size airplane. Any good .60 should fly it well. I sure wouldn't try it with an old engine that couldn't pull a fat girl off of a toilet. Your K&B should be a good choice.
