SKYRAY RACER
« on: August 20, 2018, 07:16:02 PM »
This is a laser cut kit of the Skyray specifically 1/2A racing. The airplane will NOT be any good as a trainer or sport airplane. The CAD plans show all parts full size. The fuselage shape, wing shape, and tailfeather shapes are identical to the SIG Skyray. The thickness of these parts is the same as the SIG Skyray. The control system mounts in the same position as the SIG Skyray. The face of the prop driver of a Cox engine with an 8 cc tank and the Aluminum Engine Mount is in the same place as a Babe Bee with a 5 cc tank. The kit includes the Aluminum Engine Mount, the screws and gasket to assemble the engine and the Aluminum engine mount, and the screws to mount the engine/engine mount assembly to the airframe. The kit comes with instructions for mounting the engine to the Aluminum Engine Mount. The tapped holes in the crankcase of a Cox reed valve engine must be deepened to use the Aluminum engine mount. The kit does not include any control system hardware. The kits sell for $78.00 plus shipping of 2 pounds from zip 60449. A twin kit of two airplanes sells for $152.00 plus shipping of 3 pounds from zip 60449. Control system packages sell for $15.50 each if sold with the kits.  The control system package contains a Perfect aluminum 1/2A Bellcrank set, two 4-40 round weld nuts, two 4-40 x ¼ Button head Socket Cap Screws, a DuBro 2-56 swivel ball link set, a 12” 2-56 threaded pushrod, and a nylon control horn. For an additional $3.00 I will supply a #50 drill and a 2-56 tap to deepen the holes in the Cox crankcase. I will sell a full size .pdf file of the plans for $5.00 .
A SIG Skyray kit is much less money, it is a great little airplane for sport and training use. This kit is designed to survive the rigors of hard racing

Our club has a Skyray Race as part of our 1/2A contest. This kit is designed to provide a tough racer for Skyray racing.
