Title: QUICKIE RAT
Post by: pat king on January 04, 2014, 09:35:41 AM
Here is a laser cut kit of Riley Wooten’s  Quickie Rat. The airplane has a 24” wingspan and 106 square inches of wing area. If you ever had one they are fun airplanes, you just go around in a circle fast. It is not a speed ship, but is plenty fast enough to have a great time. The kit does not contain a bellcrank, but contains all the wood and music wire. Brodak P222 is the right bellcrank for this kit. The plans are full size CAD plans with all parts shown full size. The kits sell for $53.00 plus Priority mail postage from 60449.

Thanks,  Pat

Pat, is there any chance you could make the kit with a better wing? That little 24" span model is a real ankle-biter! Riley's QR was always a hand-full to fly, wanting to torque in on take off. A LOT better model would be a 30" wing, 4" root chord, 3" tip chord with an ounce of tip weight.

Bill

Bill,
I am going to start with the original design. I guess I didn't have torque problems because I was running a Rev-Up 7-11 prop. It probably didn't generate enough torque reaction until it was moving pretty fast. I am looking at a Quickie Rat II with a 30" wingspan. Riley says that was never kitted, but was a better airplane. Riley is going to recommend the change in stab for the 30" airplane.

Thanks,  Pat
