P-47D Profile Scale
« on: August 06, 2017, 11:12:06 AM »
This laser cut kit is for a Profile Scale P-47D “Bubble Top”. The airplane is 1/8 scale. It has a 61 1/8” wingspan and 688 square inches of wing area. The airplane is for 60 to .75 engines. This is a large airplane, it will present very well on the ground, or in the air. The fuselage is 11 ¾” tall.  The main gear carry 4” wheels. The construction is light but strong. The airplane is not designed to be as light as a Profile Stunt airplane, it is more rugged than a precision aerobatic airplane, but not as heavy as most profile airplanes this size.  The airfoil is not symmetrical, but the airplane will do all simple maneuvers, inside and outside loops, inverted flight, figure eights. The plans are CAD plots with full size templates of all parts. The kit does include control system hardware. The plans show the RSM 4” carbon fiber Bellcrank, pushrods, pushrod ends, and elevator horn. The kits will sell for $219.00 plus shipping for 6 pounds from Zip 60449.

Just out of curiosity, why didn't you make the airfoil fully symmetrical? H^^

Glenn,
I have a P-47D airplane for serious Profile Stunt competition. It has Symmetrical airfoil. This airplane is designed for Profile Scale competition at any level. Some contests will downgrade a Scale airplane if the airfoil does not at least appear to be scale. This airplane has a scale type airfoil and the wing thickness is also scale. It goes from 16% thick at the root to 12% thick at the tip rib. This airplane can most likely win many profile stunt competitions. It will probably fly the pattern at levels beyond the capability of most of us. I now have .60 size  profile P-47D airplanes that can be very competitive in the disciplines they are designed for.

Hi Pat.  Thanks for the reply, I guess I didn't understand the Profile "Scale" bit. LOL  Beautiful ship as always.

Glenn,
It does get confusing. I have the Profile Scale P-47D. I have the Profile Stunt P-47D in 60 size and 40 size. The Profile Stunt airplanes are based on the World Championship P-47 of Bill Werwage. The Profile Stunt airplanes look sorta like a P-47D. The Profile Scale airplane is a scale P-47D. I also have a Profile Scale sheet wing 1/2A  P-47D and P-47B. So, that makes 5 different P-47 kits I offer.
