Title: Flying Fool Kit Survey
Post by: pat king on January 31, 2011, 11:18:43 AM
I am getting ready to have the parts cut for the prototype of the Flying Fool kit. This was Sterling kit S12. Let me know if you would be interested in buying a kit when they are ready. The kits will be in the $100.00 to $110.00 range. I will have a better idea of the final cost after I get the laser cuts and all the wood in house.
Thanks,  Pat

Hi Pat.  Is it going to be a full kit or short kit and if a full kit, will it include any hardware?  I been waiting for this one! %^@

Glenn,
I am planning a full kit, a short kit could be made available. The kit will include the wire for landing gear and pushrod, j-bolts for the gear, bellcrank and mounting hardware, and the control horn and mounting screws. The kit will include the Aluminum pads for engine mounting. The kit will not include wheels, the tank, or leadout material.

Thanks,  Pat

Geeezzzzzzzz Louise, Pat!  You're KILLING ME! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

I still have my original (Christmas present 1965) but I am afraid to fly it.  Built totally with Ambroid except the motor mounts.  They were glued with a wood glue that you had to mix to use.  It came as a powder and you added water, I *think* is was early Weldwood!  Pretty sure about that....  Recovered it about 20 years ago. ;D

Bill,
Just save your Confederate money. After selling enough eggs and a hog you will be set.  y1 I'll sell you one whenever you are ready. I do not plan a single run then no more kits. I may not always have them in stock, but I can always turn out another one.

I ordered the laser cuts for the prototype kit, I have the stick and sheet wood. My laser cutter is very busy getting ready to go to VSC. I should get the Flying Fool and the Profile Scale Stearman PT 17 parts before I go to Texas later this month. As soon as I get the Flying Fool things sorted out and off to Dennis I may build the PT 17.  #^ I am not great at finishing, but that is probably my second favorite airplane.  y1

Gee whiz, I still have the original Sterling kit, waiting to be built. Now I won't have to, I can get a new one, with good wood in it!
