F6F-3 HELLCAT Kit
« on: January 24, 2017, 12:30:58 PM »
This is a 1/12th scale Profile Scale Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat. The airplane has a 42.8” wingspan and 334 square inches of wing area. The airplane is for .15 to .25 engines. The laser cut kit has CAD plans with full size templates of all the parts. The airplane has a stock airfoil. That being said the airfoil has enough shape and thickness to be a decent sport flyer. The leading edge is sheeted back to the center of the spar, the remaining ribs not under the center sheeting have cap strips. The wing has the scale slight anhedral in the center with dihedral in the outer portion. The kits will sell for $86.00 plus Priority Mail shipping for 4 pounds from zip 60449. I sell full size .pdf files of the plans for $5.00 a set. You can pay using PayPal to: patdk@aol.com  or mail a check to:

Maybe this one could also be used for .15 Carrier?

Wayne,
It is a .15 size carrier aircraft. I don't know how it compares to the rules. Do you know where I can get a copy of the rules for 15 Carrier?

Thanks,  Pat

If you mean that the Hellcat was a Carrier plane, yep, knew that one.

As far as the C/L Carrier rules I have no idea, maybe post a query here in the Carrier section? I know Bill Bischoff and Mike Anderson on the forum here are Carrier flyers too, you might check with them.

Just about the right size for AMA profile carrier with a .36 engine. Too big for 15 carrier.

15 carrier is flown on 52' x.012 lines. Both high speed and low speed are 8 laps each. No movable control surfaces other than the elevator and no line sliders allowed. The 300 minimum sq. in. rule doesn't apply. Does not have to be a model of a real airplane. Maximum speed of 70 mph. NCS web site has all the non AMA rules.
