This laser cut kit has the shapes and thicknesses from the Flying Clown plans from the AMA plan service. It is not for sport flying or OTS Stunt competition. It is designed for Clown Racing. The airplane is very strong and tough. The leading edge is made from ½” square Basswood. The spar is “I-beam” shaped. The Bellcrank is suspended on a pair of 1/8 ply Bellcrank mounts that span the first 3 ribs on either side. The Bellcrank mounts are hooked on the center rib, you would have to destroy the airplane to pull the Bellcrank through the wing. The center rib is 3 pieces of ¼ balsa laminated to give a ¾” thick center rib. The wing has adjustable leadouts. The ½” thick fuselage is ¼” basswood on the outboard side and ¼” Balsa on the inboard side. The horizontal tail parts are 1/8” Basswood, they have the holes for the sewn hinges. The vertical tail is 1/8” birch plywood. The main gear is 1/8” Music Wire that straddles the fuselage and doublers. It is removable without disturbing the wing to fuselage joint. The engine mounts are ½” square hard Maple. The kit sets them 1” apart, the ½” vertical dimension allows them to be cut out to fit engines that are up to 1.3” (33mm) across the crankcase. The CAD plans show all parts full size.

I have updated the design to have 1/8 Basswood skins on both sides of the fuselage and a 1/4" Balsa core. The price goes to $113.00 per kit.

One more upgrade, the outboard wingtip is now a sandwich of 1/8 basswood center with 1/8 balsa top and bottom. There is no price change. y1
