Title: Baby Ringmaster Gyro
Post by: pat king on November 14, 2016, 04:27:07 PM
Want something different for 1/2A flying, or the Ringmaster Fly-A-Thon next year? This baby Ringmaster Gyro is cute and fun! The laser cut kit can be built for radial mount or beam mount engines. The CAD plans show all parts full size. The kits contain control system hardware. The rotor assembly has 175 square inches of swept area. The airplane will loop. I have it on good authority that the first loop flown was not planned! Allan Perret built and flew the prototype. Allan provided valuable design input for the airplane.
The first kits will sell for $39.00 plus Priority shipping on 1 pound from 60449. The box will be a triangular mailer, 25” long 6” on a side.

Hey Pat.  Great looking kit, again.  does it come with the rotor blades, rotor center hub, and rotor hardware?

The simple answer is yes! The blades are roughed out. You have to finish sanding the airfoil. Allan did a super job of shaping the rotor hub and blades. I think it will fly without any shaping of the blades and hub, but not as well as if they are the preferred shape.

Hub as supplied, and finished rotor assy.  I reduced the hub width about 1/4". The hub material carves easy with hobby knife.

Thanks Pat and Allan.  I really like this idea. I don't know that it's RM flyathon "legal", but I've wanted to build a gyro and I have a bunch of Ringmasters. So why not a gyro too.  I'm selling a few things right now, so after I finish these deals I'll look at your site to find the next projects.

I asked John Crawley, he said yes.

I asked John Crawley, he said yes.
Then I'll fly it in the RM flyathon. I'll need to get one.
