1/2A Profile Scale P38J
« on: August 21, 2016, 09:58:46 PM »
The dimensions and shapes for this profile scale P38J are taken from a dimensioned Lockheed 3 view drawing. The airplane is 1/16 scale, ¾” = 1’-0”. The airplane has a 39” wingspan and 218 square inches of wing area. The airplane is designed for Cox reed valve engines. If you do not have a pair of Surestart engines, or back plate assemblies to convert your existing reed valve engines to Surestart type they are available from Cox International. This airplane is scale to the point that the rib profiles are to the Lockheed specified shapes. The wing transitions from NACA 23016 at the root to NACA 4412 at the tip. If you want a neat airplane just for fun, or to compete in 1/2A Profile Scale you should consider this one. The CAD plans have full size templates of all the parts. The laser cut kits will sell for $80.00 plus shipping. Full scale plan files as .pdf files are available for $5.00 per set. No shipping cost for the plan files, they will be delivered to your inbox.
Thanks,  Pat

Thanks Wayne. Having been a scale judge until I became a CD last year, I am working to interest people in trying scale events. I have a bunch of profile scale, or nearly scale kits. The kits that are nearly scale can be offered in a serious competition model with asymmetrical airfoil and scale dihedral. This one is very much scale as can be seen by the Lockheed drawing that was used to design the model.

Thanks again,  Pat
