Title: White Primer in Aerosol
Post by: Allan Perret on November 06, 2013, 01:21:37 PM
Was doing some internet research looking for automotive touch-up paint for my white BMW and ran across this company and product.  I recall some threads a while back discussing aerosol primers under the NAPA label and specifically if they were available in white.  Seems like the white was scarce.  Well here is another source for a white sandable primer in case anyone is still looking.  It is a lacquer based product so it should be OK as a base for dope in addition to automotive paints.   $8 a can, how does that compare to the NAPA product ?  They also have red, black, or grey.

I have used their product Allan and it is good.  They have a store just a couple of miles from where I live over in the industrial park.  Robert Storick was the one who suggessted the NAPA primer and I have used it also and it is the best primer I have ever used.  It dries almost instantly.  However, I have only found it in grey from NAPA.

My NAPA only has the gray. They looked up the white part number I gave them (from another thread, can't remember the number now) and that number isn't in their system.
Robert, maybe you can snap a photo of the barcode, can, etc. I'll print them off and take them with me.

The NAPA close to me closed. So the next time I drive across town to the one I go to now I will do it. But unfortunately I am not going for a while.

I was in PepBoys yesterday and noticed they also have a white sandable primer in aerosol, think it was $5.95.

Stopped by my local NAPA store today to see if they had the Duplicolor DC540 or DC530 primer and it did not show up in their computor.  The guy also looked in his catalogs and could not find it either. Sounds like it is discontinued.  :(

I just bought a case of 540 last week. Your guy just don't know what he's looking for. Sorry

You may be correct Robert.  Is there perhaps some information that you could share that might help me to enlighten this guy ? If so I will try again.  :)

Robert thank you very much !  I found 2 stores within a 10 mile radius that show the gray in stock. Nowhere do I see the white though.  But at least I can pick up some of the gray. Again my thanks to you.  :)
