Finish on Sig Skyray 35
« on: January 26, 2014, 03:06:35 AM »
New getting back into the hobby.  Just wanted to share my latest (only the second kit since about 1968).

This is a quick and dirty method of finishing.  But it works well.

I used epoxy paint from Klass Kote.  I only used TWO coats.  First coat was primer..light sanding after.  Then I used one coat of gloss black.

I used Solartex on the wings.  Easy stuff.  Next kit I will try some Century 21 Film.

Hi Dave,

I thrive on quick finishing, where do I get Klass Kote and what colors are available.

I've used a little Klass Kote, I like it real well. I can buy it at my almost local hobby shop in Orlando, but it's a VERY well stocked hobby shop (Grave's RC).
Klass Kote is also available on eBay, probably cheaper if you buy enough to offset shipping charges.
You can see their color chart here: http://www.klasskote.com/epoxy-colors-primers
And they give you mixing instructions to match various colors here: http://www.klasskote.com/color-formulae
I've only used the gloss black, with very good results.
