As a continuation of the discussion, Brodak clear is indeed taughtening, however I've never used it. Crystal clear is non-taughtening. There is a small amount of color in plain clear. All Randolph dope has color in their taughtening and non-taughtening clear unless the label says it is clear. The web site can verify this.
I've never used taughtening dope and have never had a problem with covering or painting anything other then using way too much dope.
Both Brodak and Randolph have instructions and Randolph has a book, or at least Aircraft Technical Support in Columbus, Oh, also a distributor of Randolph products has one both of which together have everything one would want to know about the products.
