What is a good tape to use for masking on MonoKoto? I need to add some trim and wonder if blue tape is good.

No matter what you use that will actually mask you are going to get a little pull on the MonoKote.  Just get out the felt glove, heat the area and stick it back down.  I was skeptical at first but even painted MonoKote will tighten just fine.  Decals not so much.

Personally I use brown masking for adding covering sheets and green or vinal for "masking".
Pull it back over itself like it was dope.

i cut my own tape from oracal vinyl sheets. leave a lot of residue ( can be taken off with zippo fluid) but achieve crispy lines and easy to conform.

How do you do the ink lines on the monokote?

i sand the monokote with 1200 grit sandpaper lightly, then the india ink grab on it easily
after the plane is painted and inked i apply a clear coat on the entire model
the model is my version of Bob Hunt´s holeshot

Has anyone tried the Glad Press & Seal transfer method with trim MonoKote or vinyl? I understand that it is similar to using transfer tape. You clean the surface, on a cutting board then you cutout the design, remove the unwanted material then lay the Press & Seal over it, rub it onto the stuff you want to transfer. Spray the area to where the trim is going with windex, remove the trim piece from the cutting board and position and rub in place. Let dry out overnight. Slowly remove the Press & Seal (they say you can use some light heat to help the release).

A problem I recently came across with the  Ultracote product is that the masking tape (blue tape) pulled the clear plastic (mylar maybe?) off of the color/glue layer. Not good! I tried to use the iron to adhere back down but it didn't really help. I never had this problem with Monocote. The Ultracote is made from some type of laminating process.

The Removable Scotch office tape #811 is quite nice. But it's not so flexible, so just for straight lines. L

Zippo lighter fluid is just Naphtha which you can buy a quart for about the same price as a 4 ounce bottle of Zippo Fluid.

Take off's are optional. Landings are mandatory, it's only a question of quality.
