Title: Stripping paint from Monokote.
Post by: Perry Rose on February 18, 2024, 05:51:54 AM
Whatever the paint brand was, Krylon I think, it was stuck on. I tried lacquer thinner but nothing happened. I laid a soaked rag on the paint and still it didn't soften or bubble. I even roughed it up a bit and the thinner had no effect. Tape didn't peel it off and scraping was useless. At the auto parts store I got a spray can of  paint remover. After a couple layers of remover with little results I came upon the idea to cover the remover while it worked. I applied a layer of remover and placed a plastic newspaper bag over it and that really made quick work of the paint. It scraped off and thinner took care of the left over spots.

Interesting! The stripper didn't etch the MonoKote? What kind of stripper was it?
