Impass

I have not built a NATS plane in a few years and this layoff has hampered my creativity. I sit here for the last 4 days and looked at this plane and can not think of a single smashing idea to finish the trim. So I added some more white. Hopefully my wattman decal will be here tomorrow and I get the paint masks soon for the wing. Maybe this will spark some creative juices flowing again for a stunning paint scheme, maybe not.

It could end up with AMA numbers ,Stunt Hangar and wicks markings , then ink and clear. It would be a clean plane Jane. I keep thinking a yellow burst from center out to wing tip under the white stripe but I just don't know, Once its there I am stuck even if I don't like it. I guess I can still build and paint. LOL

59.25 OZ with wing tip weight less clear

If you did nothing else, it'd still look amazing...
Me, and that's me, decals, numbers, clear and go fly #^ #^
Some yellow? Not really sure... The decals will add enough.
Anyway, I'm happy it's not my call...

I dunno, Robert.  It does look pretty good clean.  Once you fill that big blank area in the wings with your AMA number and the airplane name then you'll have an awfully good looking plane.

And if you're trying to get into the front row, consider that after Derick's Matrix the crew might just get caught by a really well-finished simple plane.

Beyond that I have no serious suggestions when I think of elaborate schemes I tend to sway in the direction of adapting Don Martin cartoons into decals.  I was about to post a wish that we had a gallery of aircraft that folks could use for finish ideas, when I stumbled across someone's plane with a scheme that I could adapt to my own uses.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

We do have a photo gallery.  Perhaps if everyone that does a build her would post a pic or two of their finished ship? H^^

I don't know, Robert, but if it we're me, I'd probably go with a bit of black around the red and call it good.

I like the white addition on the wing and stab. With the white on the fin it needed more white somehere, what you went with works. y1

Perhaps a "swoopy" checkerboard on the wings,, but subtle,, just a slightly darker shade of grey,,

If it were mine and I was thinking about adding something I would add a dark color, probably black, to make it POP. I would do some short diagonal lines through the red and white but stopping before it reaches where the numbers and letters will be. I will see what I can come up with on the letters...

I've done checkerboard on just one panel a couple of times. Asymmetric paint scheme can work well but you have to be careful. You don't want it too unbalanced.

Nice! Logo #1 is really cool but try taking the top "zig-zag" out so the "bolts" actually look more like an S and then read naturally.

My vote would be for checkerboard on the nose of the fuselage, and would probably go with yellow/black, to pickup the yellow on the Wattman decal on the fin. Some black pinstripes would tie it all together nicely.  H^^ Steve

Thanks for the tip, Wayne. As a matter of fact, that was the first option I came up with but It reminded me a very sad page in the history of mankind that I'm sure nobody wants to remember (if you know what I mean...)

Well I thank you all for the input, however I got masks cut locally and I will post pics as soon as I get them painted on. Kinda plane Jane. But I think this plane will look fine with ink and clear. The nice thing is the weight.

I added the lettering and numbers today. I have 1 more logo to add and then I start inking. I was going to put watman on the tail but I messed it up. So unless I can paint it on that will not get added. should still look good with ink and clear.

I guess I have given up on concourse It would never happen anyway even if I built a 20 pointer. So I will just do what I can and forget it. The nice thing about this plane is the weight.

Hi Robert,

Finish up the ink work, but don't over do it.  It will be light enough and will look good enough, especially after the clear coats are buffed out.
