Silkspan with pinholes??

Guys,

Recently someone commented about having issues with pinholes appearing after applying dope to silkspan.

I didn't pay much attention until I had the same problem; this with some silkspan with "uncertain pedigree". 
In my case, the pinholes didn't appear until I brushed on the color.

Do any of you know the source of the silkspan with the pinholes, and what the "fix" is?

This stuff has had several coats of nitrate clear then, clear + talc, then a couple more coats of clear. And some sanding in between.  I finally got rid of the holes but it wasn't fun.........

It was some old silkspan that I have had for a "while" (I think???).  Anyway, it's gone, now......

Sounds more like contamination. If you used nitrate and filler and have pinholes, then it sounds like the silkspan is contaminated with something. Oil or similar.

     I had trouble a few weeks back with pin holes in a type of Polyspan tissue.
Let me make it clear it was not Polyspan, but something similar, sold under a
different name.The fix for me was to recover over it with lightweight silkspan
applied wet,worked out good.Will only use Polyspan,if still available,from now on.
