Oh those pen lines.

I wanted to take a casual approach, an easy and quick way actually, to applying pen lines to my no longer Super Ringmaster. Now a P-40.

Didn't want to go overboard, I don't go out on boats because of a fear of being thrown overboard  n~,

Anyway, I drew this template up and made tiny holes at each intersection of the lines. Stabilo for marking placement dots. Just flip it for the other wing panel.

Thought it would be easier than using a measurement system directly on the wing.

Betcha lots of guys do it this way.  ;D

I've never seen anyone present a photo of or mention a template. I'm sure it's a secret.  S?P

You see double lines on my template only because of the layout time, quicker this way with my program.

The finished product has a single line representation. You can tell by the holes.

I found the correct P-40 layout on line. Correct?  Reasonably correct, but not really for the shape of a Ringmaster wing.

First model I ever drew pen lines on, still only took less than an hour to do all the bottom for what you see in these photos. Moving the ruler around because of wet ink takes up time. Go back to the area you left when the ink dries.

Here's the pen. Dries impervious to water, even hard rubbing.

Works for me.

I hope you tested this pen with clear before going to all this work. Clear tends to make some puns smear,run or blur. Let us know. But it does look good.

Just thought I'd update the Thread, pen lines on the top of the model.

Did the layout the same way, with one pattern, then flip it for the other wing or stab.

BTW. The elevator and aileron stuff is vinyl.


Fuselage will be last.
