Title: Rustoleum over open bays
Post by: John Castle on April 14, 2010, 12:26:36 PM
Will this work over the open bays of a wing?
Medium Silkspan- dope- Rustoleum color coat.
I've done this on solid balsa surface before  but never over open bays.

Also.. Is medium silkspan ok for a .15 sized plane or will the fine silkspan work?

Thanks,
John

When I tried that, the finish cracked.  I don't know why.  Only on the open areas, though.  It is just fine over wood.

Interesting,
I've painted over open bays with Rustoleum on several models without any apparent ill effects.Scour surface with fine Scotchbrite and one dust coat and one flow coat and done. After several years they are still good.

I just covered my Magician 15 with OO silkspan and worked great.

Love that airplane, I learned the pattern on one (much to it's detriment).  Try a maneuver, go home, fix, repeat...... HB~>
