Title: removal of monocote
Post by: Dudley Lang on April 24, 2010, 04:50:50 PM
I have just finished covering a new plane with monocote.  I have always used silkspan and dope in the past.  I don't like the trim scheme and wondered what is an easy way to remove trim from monocote.  Also, I may want to remove all the monocote and start over with silkspan.  So, if I select to remove everything, what's the easy way to do it.  Thanks Dudley Lang

As far as removing trim, unless it will peal up you're probobly stuck with it. Removing the entire covering is a PITA, heat it up gradually untill you can peal it off then any residue I use accetone to clean the wood with. Good luck with whatever you decide on.
