Title: Rapidograph Pen Set
Post by: t michael jennings on April 12, 2013, 12:01:30 PM
Gentlemen,

I purchased a full set of Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph Pens at an estate sale.

The owner failed to clean out two of the pens.  Unfortunately, I was not able to contact him and ask for advice.

What is the best solution to soak the pens to dissolve the dried-up ink in the pens.

The set contained Koh-I-Noor "Waterproof Black India RDS" ink.  I assume that is the type of ink dried in the pens.

Thanks for the helping hands that is sure to come.

Try warm water first. If that does not work try rubbing alcohol.

We have a drafting supply place in Carrolton TX that has been in business forever. They recommended using Windex, not the cheap window cleaners. This works better than the Koh-I-Noor cleaner.
I general completely disassemble the pen. Be very careful with the moving plunger.  Use an ultra sonic cleaning unit. Patience is the key.
