actually, I would not be so very sure about that,, It would still however be compatible with your checkbook,, ( in other words, your money could buy both,,  ) Randolph has a urethane product under their name as well, doubt its compatible with Butyrate,,

Randolph's polyurethane is called "Ranthane" & is an excellent urethane product.  Like most all catalyzed polyurethanes (as Mark knows for sure) it will go over most any undercoat including butyrate dope.  It is available in all of the multitude of Randolph colors plus clear.

I think some of all this is because we are painting small objects when compared to a car or truck..............

Automotive Acrylic Lacquer was a real big item to use for painting our models back in the day.  With a clear butyrate dope top coat.  The acrylic lacquer from Duplicolor works fine for colors on a stunter then hit it with SIG Lite Coat clear, or automotive Urethane for the clear finish coats.  There is no question that it works and has been for over 50 years.
