Title: polyurithane??

  Is polyurethane fuel resistant?  I am going to paint a wooden flight box and I want something that will at least resist fuel soaking.  Thanks a lot

Gill I use MinWax water and oil based Polys for several things... I think it is fuel proof "enough" but only after some 10 or more days of curing

Unless you spill raw Nitro on the box it will be just fine as a finish

I also have pretty good luck with most Rustoleum type spray Enamels on fuselages and one of my flight boxes...same applies...loonger cure time needed---- seems to hold up well to my up to 25% nitro spills if wiped off

MinWax water based clear Poly seems to go right over the Rustoleum color coat just fine

I used Varathane polyurethane color paint on combat planes long ago. Great finish and completely fuelproof, but it took a long time to dry.

Only one disadvantage I observed with Polyurethane: it can be yellowed by years. When basic color of your model is white, it can be disturbing.
It is up to your taste how to solve this problem: best is to choose yellow to basic. (Dark colors are not practical as a base.)
