Title: Patching with poly

I'm pretty familiar with patching up silk: tear the edges in order to blend in the edges and so on.

What is a good technique for doing it with poly span?  For reference, I have about 4 rib bays worth of recovering to do. Thanks a bunch.

As poly is hard to tear like silk span, I cut it in oval shape or circular with a pair of scissors.  After a couple of coats of dope and filler you will not feel the edges.

  As Doc says, avoid hard corners, unless you can blend it in with another straight line. After you put the Poly on and start building up with dope, take a small brush and put a stripe of clear around the edges of your patch, and feather that in by lightly sanding in between coats with a small block. Time consuming but will be almost invisible by the time you put your trim colors back on and such.
