Title: Paint Tips & Tidbits!
Post by: Avaiojet on May 04, 2014, 07:13:20 PM
No secret, I'm really using rattlecans, RRC (Rusty Rattle Can), on the SKYFALL 007.

No adjustments and no control, press and what you get is what you get, all paint.  LL~

There may or may not be the need for repairs or tuch-ups along the way?  A perfect world? n~

I've had fixes to make, a few.

Simple bleeding under tape.

Not to comon but it sometimes happens when tape lifts a tad and you're not wearing glasses.

The fix is easy, just place tape on both sides of the bleed and apply a bit more paint. Well, this does work, but not using an airbrush, the RRC paint will get in places not wanted. That fix? Remask a good area. OR!...

Just apply two pieces of tape then sand the bleed color away using 600.  1000 if you want it to take all night.

This fix is easy and I've used it a bunch of times.

You can polish 600 or, in my case, a coat of clear will do the trick. The clear, no, not RRC.  ;D

This thread could be used for "Tips & Tidbits" with finishing and paint.

You got a tip?  LL~ LL~ LL~

Should also  be a rule against starting multiple threads that pertain to the same thing in order to just get attention.

Charles,
I've used this approach myself and it does work. Also used the clear dope over the tape trick. For me when the edge bleeds its usually that I didn't get the surface degreased all the way or I put to heavy a coat for the first coat.

Best,    DennisT

Dennis,

Thanks for the reply.

Tape lifted a tad in a few areas, could have been for what you mentioned.

Dennis, I was looking over the Mig-3 Thread, thinking of going electric with it also, you were generous with many replies there, thank you for that.
