trying to finish , it is either to cold to wet to windy , tried to sneak on finial coat of black on  witch it really didn't need and white blushing ????  read on forum where to damp  use more retarder  more blush  another project derailed, useing aero gloss any ideas?

What I do is on the clear coats put thinner and retarder in with the clear. Actually I have a least 50% thinner and then spray this on. The thinner will soften the black and let out the moisture that as been trapped in the color. I was told this by several people and it works for me.

Yes, that will sometimes do it? However, to play it safe, might be best to shoot the color again.

I don't re-spray the color, let it blush then the final clear coats will take it out. The trick is to use more thinner than clear. This works for me.
When I was painting the Magician, both the yellow and blue blushed, but when I hit it with the clear - no blush. First few coats are misted on, as I have striping tape and vinyl images on the plane. I don't spray a wet coat until the decals and tape are sealed. The tape has a tendency to roll up if you spray too heavy a coat.

If you have blush now, just spray pure thinner in a mist a few inches overhead and let it settle onto the surface. As posted quite often, this generally works, and it has never failed me. You can expect good results, even in higher humiidty.

The one major disaster I have had in finishing a model with any kind of dope was while using retarder.  I sprayed on the red base coat and got a milk finish.......... really BAD.  So out comes the retarder.  No "mixing formula", just pour some in (stupid on my part).  The dope glossed right up and the blushing went away.  Then I masked off for trim.  The blue vinyl 3M 1/8th" tape pulled off everything down to bare silkspan.  The retarder had gone to the bare wood and softened everything............ never again!

I should qualify what I said before.  I have used retarder (just a tad) in black Aero Gloss before many times with no problem, but I always put Aero Gloss on with a brush.

The only time I ever used retarder was in spraying the final clear coats. And over a 40 year period of spraying paint, generally for blends and repairs.

Gotta use the word "spraying" or "brushing" because guys do both AND get good results.

Spraying is spraying even though the surface may be different.

I expect to paint my next model and finish in clear. I won't have any retarder anywhere when I do this.

Interesting thing is, achieving the same results many different ways. What works for one individual may not work for another.

Hey! That's clearly seen in all facets of this hobby!

Yes, some of my models or customer's models were painted in a spray booth.

However, I have painted many models in my garage. Certainly, I choose the days.

I'm new to FL and have no connections here. I will paint my model, the one I was referring to, in my garage.
