Title: Over spray

I got a little over spray of dope here and there. Is there a trick to fixing it without more dope?

I'm not sure what you mean -- are you saying that you're painting part A and part B is getting a fine dusting of whatever you're painting onto A?

If so, the first answer is that you should mask the whole damned airplane before you spray, no matter how small a spraying job you're fixing to do.

I'm pretty sure that the second answer is the same as the bug answer, only much milder: if it's just a dusting, then take some 800 grit and sand it off.  Maybe 1200 grit.  You were going to color-sand and buff anyway, yes?

             Paul, I've experienced that myself. The overspray just crept under the tape. This happens when your shooting more towards the taped line than over it. My solution was to use a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. I used 70% alcohol and not the 91% type. Alcohol is alcohol and will attack the underlying finish just like thinner would do. The 70% rubbing alcohol wasn't very aggressive and used sparingly followed by a quick wipe with a soft towel, not a paper towel resulted in ridding my red overspray on my white finish without making it pink. As always my results could be far different than yours and I have no idea of the extent of your overspray. I'm just saying a fine mist will clean up with a cotton swap slightly dampened in rubbing alcohol.  I use the credit card scrape method and sometimes scratch with a #11 blade sideways dragging it which can also remove stubborn spots when I shoot a masked stripe and the tape is removed revealing overspray.

Without explaining as I'm sure you know, always try stuff like this in an inconspicuous area. Ken

Thanks Ken. That is what happen.
I remember way hi. A windy video and be use a rubbing compound. That got some off. Will try your suggestion this afternoon.

  Paul, something else that you might try is a counter top cleaner called "Soft Scrub" found in grocery stores.
 Several years ago I used it, 'course ya' gotta be careful as it can be aggressive.

  You might also try some Tooth Past as this is abresive also.

The alcohol worked!!! I do have a few little hard spots and will try the soft scrub. I think we have some under the kitchen sink.

I remember on the Vector I took steel wool to it. I was a little heavy handed. HB~>

Another thing that I found that work good is PTG put me on is Mr. Clean sponge just wet with water and wipe . #^ #^ #^ y1 y1
