New (to me) Product - AquaCoat

(1/1)

Steve Berry:
Does anyone know anything about this stuff, AquaCoat?

They have a clear grain filler - https://aquacoat.com/products/clear-grain-filler

They have a clear water-based lacquer - https://aquacoat.com/products/aqua-coat-clear-topcoat

They even have a sanding sealer - https://aquacoat.com/products/aqua-coat-x-119-sanding-sealer

If their YouTube videos are to be believed, it can easily withstand straight grain alcohol with no issues https://youtu.be/Giuo25BmrDE?si=-wI6gI_TdkuIOiT3

Money is a bit tight for me right now, otherwise I'd get some and test it. Does anyone here have any experience or thoughts on it, positive or negative?

No experience with that particular product, but any time I've veered off the status quo it winds up being more expensive, more heavier, with less than impressive results.

I am not sure what "status quo" means in this case. Since people have mostly moved on from dope, there are a pretty wide array of different materials used, almost all automotive products, most of which are more durable and lighter. More expensive, yes.

I think "aqua coat" is a water-based wood floor finish. I don't know if it is fuel proof, but that probably doesn't matter as much as it used to. Anything used for a floor is going to be pretty tough.
